What’s the big deal about God’s Servanthood DNA?
So, I kept on thinking about God’s DNA and realized some pretty big implications for those of us who are Christ followers. As Followers of Jesus, we have this DNA, this genetic code of a servant heart, and it causes us to see things from His perspective.
Much is made of the alterations God makes in our lives when we enter into relationship with Jesus. But perhaps one of the most important transformations He brings is that He changes our focus from what is on our hearts to what is on His heart. When we get His servanthood DNA, it replaces a sense of religious “duty” with a heart that cares. It changes our “have to’s” to our “want to’s.” As we are transformed, we see people differently. Our focus is changed from seeing people as “them and us” to seeing them as “part of us.” It is no longer 2 groups, “them & us;” it is just ‘us.” We no longer see people as outsiders vs insiders. Instead we realize that God has drawn a far bigger circle that includes all of us as insiders. As Galatians 3:28 teaches, “there is no longer Jew or Greek, slave nor free, male nor female. You are ALL ONE in Christ.” This DNA adjusts our perspective and changes our focus.
What’s the big deal about having God’s servanthood DNA? Everything. Because everyone matters to God. Don’t take my word for it, Ask Jesus.
